Energy Efficient Street and Roadway Lighting

Energy Efficient Street/Roadway Lighting

Cities are increasingly looking for more energy efficient longer lasting roadway/street lighting to replace their exiting older technology high pressure sodium (HPS) lighting fixtures. Energy costs are rising rapidly and utility companies are eliminating artificially lower rates for street/roadway lighting. In addition, labor, material and transportation costs are also increasing adding to the pressure cities are already under to cut budgets and substantially reduce borrowing. Replacing older technology high pressure sodium street lighting with new energy efficient lights is a good idea but what is your best choice in technologies? Compared to all other lighting technologies, Global induction street/roadway lights are the right choice for the following reasons:

Low Cost: Global induction street/roadway lights are normally 50% less than LED lighting, a very important factor for the budget constrained cities.

Significant Energy Savings:  More than 60% reduction in energy costs is common when replacing high pressure sodium lighting.

Long Lasting: Global induction lights are rated to last 100,000 hours compared to high pressure sodium at 24,000 hours and LED at usually 50,000 hours. Global long lasting induction lighting means maintenance costs are virtually eliminated for 100,000 hours resulting in significant savings on cities maintenance budgets.

Better Quality Light: Global induction street lights produce more natural white light and have a color rendering index of 80+ compared to high pressure sodium lights producing yellow/orange light and having a color rendering index of 21. The higher the color rendering index the better we are able to see, colors are brighter, cameras record clearer more recognisable images.

Type 3 Light Pattern: Global induction street lights produce the type 3 light pattern mandated by most cities and include dusk to dawn sensors.

Environmental Considerations:  Mercury is harmful for the environment and unlike high pressure sodium lamps which contain liquid mercury; Global induction lamps contain no harmful liquid mercury. Global induction lights also last for 100,000 hours and are recyclable which results in significantly less waste in our landfills and less disposal costs for cities.

Wide Product Selection:   In addition to street/roadway lighting, Global induction lights come in a wide range of fixture types, lamp color temperatures and wattages from 40-400 watts for most applications. Fixtures include wall packs, flood lights, highbays to name a few examples.

Global induction street/roadway lighting is the right choice for cities replacing older lighting technologies, costing less money to purchase, operate, maintain and  lasting for an incredible 100,000 hours.
