FAQ

How do Magnetic Induction Lights differ from conventional lighting?

Typically commercial lighting products use filaments or electrodes to carry electrical current to the lamp.  Filaments or electrodes will burn out over a short period of time while induction lamps are rated for 100,000 hours of operation. Induction lamps are sealed and use magnetic fields to generate the power in the lamp – no filaments to burn out means longer lamp life.

Why do Induction lamps save money?

Induction lamps save money by requiring less frequent replacement compared to Metal Halide, Sodium or Fluorescents and use significantly less electricity to produce the same amount of light.  Typically we see savings with efficient electronic ballasts, savings with 80-90 Lumens per watt as well as the ability to produce more visually effective lumens (VEL). On average we see over 50%in electrical savings.

What about re-strike times?

Induction lamps are instant ‘on’ and will produce between 75% and 80% of their full output immediately. Typically we see induction lamps being at 100% light output after 90-180 seconds. Induction lamps are frequently used with motion sensors to reduce electrical use in  areas such as parking lots, storage facilities and warehouses.

Do Induction Lamps interfere with electronic devise or communication equipment by producing RFI?

No, Global lamps are compliant with FCC standards and international rules.
